Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}9/ET. 4th January, 1941. W. BODDY Esq., "Motor Sport", 129, Fleet Road, S. FARNBOROUGH. Hants. Dear Mr. Boddy, Many thanks for your letter of the 1st instant. Your query about the gearbox is answered as follows:- We make this box as a direct drive and with an indirect top. The general lay-out of the box is altered very little to get the two variations. As we have no general arrangement drawing of the indirect top box we sent you the direct top version. The actual box ratios of the B.V. are as follows:- Overdrive 1.1818 3rd direct 2nd .6693 1st .4199 Axle ratio 10/43 I enclose a print of a cross section through the engine, which may be of use to you. Yours sincerely, P.S. I have noted another mistake on the print that I sent you: The propeller shaft should have been split in the middle, the straight through shaft being out of date. I enclose a corrected print. | ||
