RE IGNITION - 1 EX. COMPARED WITH 6 EX.

The ignition on both these cars behaved perfectly, but I found that 6 EX. appeared to be much later than 1 EX. and I could not get a decent consumption on the former car until I habitually used the ignition as far advanced as possible.

Though the late arrangement of the ignition gives a good impression of smoothness of the engine, we fear that there would naturally lead to a very considerable increase in petrol consumption.

Perhaps you will investigate this point, and find out by testing the battery ignition, or magneto ignition, or both, with which the difference occurs, my impression being that in 6 EX. it is the magneto which is relatively late.
