1138. Experimental Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson}2/JMc. 22nd May, 1940. W. & J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Tod Ltd., Ferrybridge, WEYMOUTH. Your reference NWW/ER. Dear Sirs, Thank you for your letter of the 18th inst. We are extremely grateful to you for writing at such length, and have noted your suggestions with interest. Should developments go ahead, we will most certainly let you have details of the engines. As regards "safety fuel", it is of the paraffin type and could either be used by injection with a spark ignition or the special form of carburetter. It has all the advantages of petrol combined with the safety of Diesel fuel. We hope to carry out some tests with the safety fuel shortly and we are also making enquiries as to the possibility of supplies. Once again thanking you for the trouble you have taken to help us in this matter, We are, Yours faithfully, for Rolls Royce Ltd., | ||
