interrupter, redundant vibrations of parts and measurement of their amplitudes, the determination of unusual sounds, the location of which is always a delicate matter.
In the construction of all high speed machines it allows of the detection of flexions of shafts and therefore facilitates the determination of critical velocities.
It is of great importance in the studying of lubricating problems, and it can also be used with advantage in the construction of gearings, turbines, helices etc.
In the Textile Industry it may be of considerable use in connection with printing on fabrics or paper ; it allows the speed of machines to be increased, and consequently the output, hitherto governed by the slow speed essential to enable the operator to follow the accurate registration of impressions, can be augmented.
Its use also enters advantageously into the construction of sewing machines and other high speed delicate mechanism.
The Vibrating Cord Stroboscope with Neon Lamp has only been on supply for a few months and already, in France, it has been excepted by French Scientific departments, and Laboratories, and is in use Automobile and Textile Industries.
