Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/ET. 1031 5th February, 1941. Messrs S.U. Carburetter Co., Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM 8. Attention of Mr. Skinner. Dear Skinner, I am sending you under separate cover a throttle body from one of the carburetters fitted to the new Bentley V production cars, which hase distorted as much as .025 We have noticed that the consistency of idling of these standard production type carburetters has not been good, and so far we have attributed this to trouble with distortion of the piston chamber. Now that we have run into this new fault, however, we feel that it may have had some bearing on our past troubles. We should like to have your views as to whether the zinc base alloy which you use for throttle body die casting has an inherent tendency to distort. We are really beginning to feel that this new carburetter in no way approaches the standard quality of the old type. Yours sincerely, Encl: Test 669. | ||
