1293 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.3/BJ. 23rd April, 1937. Gordon Armstrong Patent Suspension Co. Ltd., Waltham Works, Beverley, East Yorks. Dear Mr.Armstrong, Thank you for your telegram. The dampers and valves have been despatched. Concerning the further dampers that we shall need for testing. As we shall need 1 1/4" diameter shaft for Phantom III, it will be better to use this size shaft for all our dampers. It would seem best if you could complete these dampers except for putting on the levers. The other specification should be as follows. (1) Bronze bushes. (2) Screwed plugs for high pressure transfer passages. (3) Hand control. If a satisfactory split intermediate lever can be produced, we should like to test it on some dampers. Alternatively, it would be an advantage if the main lever was detachable. We have been testing a new type of valve which enables the damper control load to be reduced to 1/6th of your present valve spring loads. | ||
