Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swd1.1/AP. 1020 Experimental Department 11th June 1937 The Hoyt Metal Co., Putney. LONDON S.W.15. Dear Sirs, We thank you for the bearings which we have received today, comprising 7 bushes lined with Satco, 2 pairs of bearings lined with Satco, 3 pairs of bearings lined with Satco No.11/23. Also we thank you for the jig. We are not sure what the symbol N.11/23 represents, so perhaps you would make this clear before we prepare the bearings for test. Regarding the 'Satco' lined bearings we should be pleased for any detailed information on this material in the following respects:- (1) Comparative strength at various temperatures against say your Z.3. material and also its cost. (2) Its approximate analysis and its quality of adhesion to the shells. (3) Whether it is critical to oil temperature or type of oil. The above information will enable us to carry out tests in accordance. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
