contd :- -2- This you can easily do by putting packing washers behind the cross steering tube springs. We believe it should improve the steering considerably. It may make it heavy for shunting but we can get over that by using the shorter pendulum lever. I am bringing out a 9 1/2" lever and side steering tube to match, actually designed for the sports car which I shall try up here. If this is any improvement it is sufficiently well designed to be run 10,000 miles. I shall also bring some bits to cut out the rubber engine mount- ing and a better column stay though we do not think that this will be much good. We believe that fitting the Hartfords will cure your bumping on the rear. We should like to know the minimum setting required to achieve this result and the actual buffer clearance of the car empty and with full running complement of ballast and drivers; the springs have probably settled down a little now. I hope to be at Chateauroux on Sunday or Monday but will wire you when I leave London. I think it would be useful if you could pick me up in Paris, but the car should not be left at Avenue Malakoff as the sports cars are not now being announced for some little time. We ought to find the best pivot lean with the required friction in the steering. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} | ||
