8440. 27 MAY 1932 CONTRACTORS TO THE ADMIRALTY, WAR OFFICE & AIR MINISTRY. THE LANCHESTER MOTOR Cº LṬP. PLEASE REPLY TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. SANDY LANE, OUR REF. LR{Mr Ellor}1/MH.{M. Huckerby} COVENTRY. YOUR REF. HTS/DMR. TELEGRAMS, MOTIVITY, COVENTRY. TELEPHONE 4161. 26th May 1932. Messrs. Sanderson & Holmes Ltd., London Road, Derby. Dear Sirs, 15/18HP. Car No. 10237. We thank you for your letter of the 25th instant and very much regret to note your complaint with regard to broken valve springs. We are arranging to send you under separate post a replacement set of 12, for which we propose to make no charge, and we shall be glad if you will kindly arrange to have them fitted. With regard to the small spring fitted on top of the push rod, this certainly has been a source of annoyance to us, and some time ago we decided to alter the pattern. The result is that we designed a spring which serves the dual purpose of rocker shaft, spacer and torsion spring, removing the small spring on top of the push rod entirely. We are arranging to send a set of these under separate post, and shall be glad if you will kindly arrange to have them fitted. A blue print showing the assembly is enclosed, and we think you will experience very little difficulty in assembling them to the rocker shaft. Before undertaking this, however, it is necessary to entirely drain the cooling system. We are also sending along, which perhaps you will kindly pass on to the client, a feeler gauge, which was not available when the car was originally delivered. Yours faithfully, For THE LANCHESTER MOTOR CºX LṬD.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}, W Bailey Service Manager [Enclosure sticker] The Company's new products are sold and the Company's work on Service and Repairs is done under the terms of its published "Conditions of Sale," which are current at the time of the transaction.
