re-,Tyre Noises.

Some little time ago I mentioned to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} that I thought whatever we learned from tyre noises and the prevention thereof by modified designs of tyres, we ought to apply to the 20/25 R-R, as it seemed to me that if more silent tyres were produced for one type of chassis we could equally well take advantage of them on the other.

We thought it was then a little premature to take any steps until you had gone as far as you could with the tyre Companies in the different designs of treads, and had enough time to make several experiments.

Do you think you have now reached a stage as far as you can go on modified tyre treads for us to be able to say that we should like to have tyres of a similar tread to what you accept for the P.III on the 20/25 ?

It is of course quite likely that the Tyre Company will not have any mould for such a design but no doubt they could make it fairly quickly.

Will you please let us know just what you now advise on this question.

The 20/25 is not at all free from tyre noises, although nothing like as bad as we found on 34-EX.
