Calculation of engine volume displacement and gas velocity for different carburettor pipes.

Identifier  ExFiles\Box 123\1\  scan0071
Date  8th January 1941 guessed

3 1/2 x 4 1/2 Engine (260 cu.in) Carburettion
Volume displaced at 1000 R.P.M. = (260 x 1000) / (12^3 x 2 x 60) 1036
= 1.25 cft/sec.
-------------------
Smallest Stromberg pipe used = 1.4" dia - Gas vel = 117 ft/sec.
(with single carb.)
Standard Wraith pipe 1.6" dia - Gas vel = 89.4 ft/sec.
Centre 4 cyls. of J S.U. B.80 1.6" dia - Gas vel = 99.7 ft/sec.
