For the attention of Commdr. Matravers.

Dear Sirs,

We are going to try experimentally on one of our cars a steering gear smaller than the one we are at present using and we want you to supply us with the cams and rollers for this gear.

The attached print, ref. FW.131, shows most of the particulars necessary for you to produce the parts, but we would like to point out the following.

(1) The roller is situated directly underneath the cam; adjustment being obtained by moving the cam downwards vertically.

(2) Contact should occur between the cam and roller on the outside faces of the roller.

(3) The angular relation between the thread and the key on the cam should be maintained closely as shown.

(4) The cam thread should be left-handed.

(5) The angular movement of the rockershaft between its stops is 84°.

Will you please supply us with 3 cams and 3 rollers to the above particulars. Our Order Office will send you an official order very shortly.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
