c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 84469. BY/1/G.1.12.31. CRANKSHAFTS. ------------- It is generally understood that any further orders for crankshafts should be executed in one of the nitride hardened type of materials. The general impression is that we should buy Vickers V.C.M. There are two points which demand definite settlement before we can move :- 1/- I understand there is a clause in the agreement which we signed when we bought the present nitride hardening furnace, that it is to be used for nitralloy steels only. This matter was brought to my attention recently by Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} 2/- Our capacity for dealing with nitride hardening requires looking into, as it is doubtful whether the special nitride hardening furnace would meet the 20 HP. requirements. I believe our maximum in this furnace would be four 20 HP. cranks per week, which is below our programme of output. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
