To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} +7380 LOWERING OF CHASSIS FRAME. X. 8380 X. 5380 X. 7380 X. 2066 It is quite evident that we must on any future chassis get the frame lower. To do this it is necessary to usea smaller dia. of back axle bevel gear, as at present adopted on the Goshawk, and EAC.7., and with these a hypoid gear of approx. 1" out of centre for the 20 HP., and 1 1/4" out of centre for the 40/50. Will you endeavour to get gears of this description of the most useful ratios. In EAC.9. this has been done. We should treat the 20 HP. the same. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
