Notes of Meeting held at Derby on
26th June, 1935.

Replying to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}1/R.8.7.35.

The latest position of the points mentioned
is as follows :-

SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

(1) SpectreCodename for Phantom III and its progress as a Town Carriage.

We have completed our experimental work on the 20/25 with a view to getting a good induction system for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III. see Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KW.8.7.35., and are now making up two pipes for the SpectreCodename for Phantom III.

The heavier flywheel will shortly be available. Both these items are to improve the slow running of the car.

We have got the engine mounting with the larger rubbers fitted to SpectreCodename for Phantom III I. This gives a smoother engine than SpectreCodename for Phantom III III now running in France, which was criticised by Sales.

These points deal with the town carriage aspect of the car.

We have also got a set of SpectreCodename for Phantom III pistons fitted in a Bentley so that we can separate piston knocks from liner distortion. We have not completed the experiments but at the moment think that the liner distortion is responsible both for knocks and overoiling.

Hancock has had various troubles, as will be seen from the Daily Reports, one of these being vapour lock, principally due to excessive heat under the bonnet. We find that the Cadillac has under bonnet temperatures quite as high as those on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III and yet does not have vapour lock. We are investigating the reason.
