1114. To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.11/AP.18.12.36. We hand you herewith one Harrison Twin Flow car heater and fittings. Will you please fit this to 35-EX. car for France. We think that this can be done without much difficulty while the car is stripped - it should be fitted under the intrument board on the top left hand corner of the dash, the water supply pipes will then project through the dash on each side of the Lockeed Fluid tank (for jacks). We think there is room for securing nuts between engine side of the dash and the Hydrualic Fluid Tank, should this not be so, the Hydrualic Fluid Tank should be packed out from the dash the necessary amount. Only the securing bolts and the supply pipes of the heater should pass through the noise insulation, this will necessitate small distance pieces on the securing bolts. The water connections should be as far as possible as shown on Lec.4784, but any variation may be made to facilitate the fitting of this heater. We will hand instructions for the electrical wiring etc. to the Shop. The fitting of this heater will entail the shortening or removal altogether of the cubby hole on the left of the instrument board - we will arrange for the coachbuilders to do any necessary work on this.
