X3764 Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to EH. c. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}17/F19.12.19. RE. CAST IRON PISTONS. With reference to Mr. Royce's telegram of the 19th. inst., and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s report Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG12.12.19, I have already discussed this matter on several occasions with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and am certainly of the opinion that we should push with all speed 2 or 3 sets of light split type cast iron pistons which could be run on experimental cars. I should be glad to receive a set, if at all possible, which we could fix in a car on test, so that we could obtain some comparative results. I certainly agree with Mr.Hives that the prospects at present of the aluminium pistons being accepted as an efficient productive item seem very uncertain. At the same time, we must be sure that the cast iron pistons are as perfect as we all think them to be and capable of meeting Sales Dept's expectations. EP.{G.
