BIJUR SYSTEM LUBRICATING PUMP.

Referring to N. Sch. 2830 it appears to me that to send out the pump as it is at present arranged is certain sooner or later to cause trouble owing to a customer removing the nuts not realizing of course that there is a strong spring inside with a compressed length out of all proportion to the length of the screw on the stud. It would appear that if somebody in ignorance undid the stud and was bending over it he might receive a very serious blow in the face from the cover being shot off.

We would suggest that it is desirable to secure the spring by collars on the existing studs, so that it would be possible to remove the cover without incurring the danger of the spring throwing the cover off. The danger would still exist if he went a stage further.

It appears to me that possibly the safest proposal would be to do what we have suggested, and then make the nuts which secure the cover on the studs by a special form so that the nuts could not be removed, and we would put a note in the instruction book that if the pump failed we would replace the unit but they must not attempt to remove the cover.
