Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Longley, Chief Chemist. With reference to your memo, Works JNL/BMP. We shall require the brake linings to the following piece nos. Front Brakes, two sets to G.77757. " one set " G.79094/5. Rear Brakes, two sets " G.78255. " two sets " G.74743. We should be much obliged if you will give us particulars in loss of efficiency when using cast-iron brake drums of various mixtures. We are at the moment trying a set of centrifugally cast brake drums supplied by the British Piston Ring Co. We have not at the moment got the specification of the material, but probably you may have had dealings with the Firm. You mentioned a Firm who is specialising in cast-iron, would you please let us have the full particulars. In regard to letting you have a brake drum complete with shoes for test purposes, we shall be pleased to loan you a set in due course.
