RE. 7-GOSHAWK-11 MAYTHORN SALOON X.4086. X.3730.

I was able to see this car and w to have a few hours run in it last week at Derby. As far as the chassis was concerned it was the best I had tried. The car seemed to have a much better acceleration than previous Goshawks. Although the body had a fixed roof, booming was almost absent at all speeds.
1. The instrument board was not attached to the wooden hoop of the scuttle, consequently the column dithered sideways. We suggest a note be put on the coachbuilders drawing to the effect that the instrument board must always be attached to the scuttle, for whilst the brackets control the column vertically quite adequately, they are very flexible horizontally.
2. The battery was quite easily removeable in this car.
3. The pedal gap plate holes did not match since the loose footboard was in no way located sideways. The catch will locate this board when fitted.
4. The spare wheel carrier on the running board was very badly attached to the chassis, and one feels that sooner or later, the wheel may fall off. Two bars of round iron came from the plate against the wheel, descending vertically for a short distance and then turning forward, joined together on a single smal base.
5. The Ferodo on the bonnet rests was a long way from the corners at which point the bonnet beds.

Derby have since contd.
