FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} S. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} by C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL JAPAN 3. SPRING ANCHORAGES. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/H29.1.31. x 5410. During our visit to Derby the front anchorage of the rear spring was criticised from the point of view of cost. Derby would like to make it more like P. 2. by eliminating the sheet metal angle piece now fitted to the bottom flange of the frame. We have made a scheme of this suggestion on N. sch. 3210. (print herewith.) As a still further improvement from the manufacturing point of view Derby would like to forge the whole bracket in one, and we have made a further scheme of this in fig. 2. on the same drawing. The centralised lubrication etc is that recently standardised but the shackle pins are modified as requested by Derby to utilise the connecting rod half head instead of two keys.
