Gearbox (Continued).

Constant Mesh Pinion Ex.26673 and 3rd Speed Driven Gear Ex.26676 were magnetic tested and found satisfactory.

G.83875 Washer for 3rd Motion Shaft Rear Bearing was worn .007 across flats.

Spring Plungers G.56214 were held fast by the oil deposit in the 3rd and 4th Sliding Piece, and the grooves for the Plungers in the Outer Member G.83716 were filled completely with the deposit. It can be assumed, therefore, that the Plungers have taken no active part in the operation of the Synchromesh mechanism.

The end play in the 3rd Motion Shaft Assembly has increased by approximately .002.

The condition of the 2nd Motion Shaft (LOP.Ex.26814, incorporating gears to Arrgt. Ex.26666) was good except for the oil deposit. Constant Mesh Wheel Ex.26674 and 3rd Speed Driver were crack tested and found O.K.

The 2nd Speed Synchromesh mechanism was in a similar condition to the 3rd and 4th; the plungers were held fast in the Sliding Piece and the grooves in the Outer Member were filled with solid oil deposit.

A strengthened universal ring for the 2nd Gear to N.S.4902 was fitted and the condition after test was satisfactory.

The Outer and Inner Driving Members G.84868 and G.84869 and the 2nd Speed Sliding Piece G.84870 were magnetic tested and found to be satisfactory.

Speedometer Drive LOP.G.81774.

Standard Production - condition good.

Reverse Gears to Arrgt. Ex.26666.

Ex.26681.A. Reverse Gear and Shaft - condition good.

Servo Drive LOP.G.82821.

G.84681/5. Washers were used replacing the Oil Baffle at Speedometer Drive end of the Shaft; the condition of these was good.

continued.
