BY HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} } FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} SECRET. ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}4/M27.3.29. SS.{S. Smith} SHORT CHASSIS. FRAME SIDE MEMBERS, ETC. X7380 With reference to the SS.{S. Smith} chassis with 144" wheelbase, of which we understand you are putting in hand a certain number of sets, you will probably have ordered the side members, but in case not we think they should be exact duplicates of the 150" wheelbase frames, with 6" taken out of the middle straight portion, thus - [Diagram showing a modification to a chassis frame member] This taper part is exactly the same but moved forward 6". The effect of this, as no doubt you will see, is to keep all the spring fittings, cross member fittings, lengths, etc, and the battery and fittings, exactly alike in all cars. The intermediate brake rods, the tie bar, and the propeller shaft, are all simply shortened 6". If you would kindly send us a detail of the side members when made we would shew the effect on the subframe. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
