-3- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KW.20.8.36. Summarising the position, we are sure that, after carefully going over the pieces, it is possible to get between 3 and 4 cwts. off the Ph.III chassis weight and make it on the whole a much more desirable automobile. It means a considerable amount of work, however. We are circulating a provisional specification showing what it is proposed to do to achieve this result. We should be interested to see Park Ward's specification for achieving a similar reduction on the body. We do not think that, with a complete Ph.III car weight of 45 cwts. or less, there would be the slightest justification for a four-speed gearbox, which would mean a further saving in weight and cost. Even without this we are prepared to guarantee a considerable saving in cost on the lightened Ph.III chassis. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
