17th March, 1938.

Messrs. Borg & Beck Co.Ltd.,
Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa.

For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 16th inst.

With reference to the conditions under which the pressure plate broke, the car was on the road at the time and as far as we can ascertain from the testers, the speed had not exceeded 4,400 r.p.m.

We feel quite sure you will readily agree that the grain and structure of the iron is not up to standard.

We are sure you will appreciate that in this matter it is not a question of design we criticise, but the material, with which you are supplied.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
