666 BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer}/NS.{Norman Scott} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} a.{Mr Adams} [redacted] DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/G.7.10.38. WRAITH 80. REAR SPRING SHACKLE. F.CD.928. Please receive herewith the above scheme. The design is generally similar to the existing shackle to F.CD.690, but the pin centres have been increased to 3.500 and the width between faces increased to take the 56.000" spring which is 2.250" wide. The shackle bracket forging should be made large enough to produce bracket as shown, the only difference between this and the one shown on F.CD.912 is the length of the bosses, the excess metal to be machined away for the B.111 bracket. No provision is made for jacking on this shackle, as it is intended that built-in jacks be fitted. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
