LUCAS DYNAMO.
X.30146 We find that on the present standard cars we have not taken full advantage of the possible range for the Belt adjustment. On the present arrangement it is not possible to take out a full link, join up the belt and slip it over the pulley when it is joined up. We find that the dynamo tension rod can be lengthened 1.5", this allows the dynamo to swing nearer to the Gearbox. It will swing this extra amount without fouling. We recommend the dynamo tension rods on the Lucas Dynamo are increased in length as soon as possible.

We find that although there is less range with the Smith Dynamo owing to the fact that it is an concentric machine, we can, if we take full advantage of the possible movement, obtain sufficient range on the adjustment so that a full link can be taken out of the belt and for it then to be slipped over the pulleys.
