328 To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}18/JH.14.5.37. Gearbox 4.H.S. We want to do some more running on Cadillac type gears. Will you therefore rebuild this box to the following specification - (1) The original constant mesh and 3rd speed gears which were removed when cyanide gears were fitted. (2) Bushes in the 3rd speed pinion to be made of hardened steel. (3) The cyanide 2nd speed gears with oil scoop can remain in the box. (4) A new side shaft is required. (5) New bearings on the first motion shaft, front end of the side shaft, and rear end of the 3rd motion shaft. (6) The present concertina piece Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}255, can remain in the box. This will mean that we want the rear axle back after any faulty parts have been replaced.
