| contd:- -2- Bijur in preference to the Bendix Drive. The great advantage we hope for is that the teeth on the flywheel will last longer. With the standard Bendix, when the pinion is crashed into engagement, the teeth are exactly opposite, it means that the teeth are damaged in order to effect the engagement, whereas, the slipping device on the Bijur does relieve this. We have also had quite a number of springs break on our Bendix drives. We do not think for one minute that we shall ever be satisfied with the Bijur Drive but we think it might have the least evils. We look forward to the fact that when we have perfected the scheme for the "Seagull", it will in due course be transferred to the 'Goshawk'. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
