COPY. X6091 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WST. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} R3/M27.10.31. X6058 X5620 C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ELECTRICAL WORK IGNITION & STARTER. I understand that you are expecting WW. to send you a design for an ignition with external primary, the davantage we could see being economy of the fine and expensive secondary winding, and the natural increase in ohmic resistance of the primary probably avoiding the necessity of ballast resistance. It would save time if you sent us a specimen of the best you can find. JAPAN 3. & 'PEREGRINE' STARTER. It is intended to make a cheaper edition of our sequence starter for these chassis, so we shall be going over various items to simplify them. One reason for not using the RR. edition of Bendix/Bijur is that even our design of this leaves much to be desired in silence and reliability, and we also need greater ratio of gearing. We understand that press button oper- ation is naturally preferred on high class cars instead of pedal. 20HP. was so fitted for economy to avoid a relay switch. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
