EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK.3/JH. 10th. February, 1939.

Messrs. Toledo Woodhead Springs Ltd.,
Toledo Steel Works,
Sheffield.1.

For the attention of Mr. Frank Woodhead.
Leaf Springs.

Dear Sirs,

We would like to draw your attention to our drawing FB.4271. The drawing shows a tapped hole, 2 BA,31.4 T.P.I., on the top of each spring eye. This hole is used in conjunction with a set screw which prevents the bush from rotating in the eye.

Up to the present time we have drilled and tapped these holes ourselves, but in the future we would like you to carry out the operation, the reason being that we receive the springs in a hardened condition, and therefore the oper-
ation is unduly lengthy.

This of course applied to the FB.1781 group of springs as well.

We trust that you will be able to do this and will let us know of any difficulties that may arise.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
