Record and production layout of the mock-up induction pipe and S.U. carburettors.

This scheme has been produced to provide a record and a production layout of the mock up induction pipe as fitted to 11.B.V. The carburetters are fitted as follows to the Induction pipe, No.1 opposite port Nos. 1 and 2, No.2 between ports Nos. 3,4,5 and 6 and No. 3 opposite Nos. 7 and 8. It will be noted that carburetters Nos. 2 and 3 are fitted with Starting carburetters and not the choke controls as fitted to the 3 carburetters on 11.B.V. The induction pipe is 1.600 dia. bore having a .500 dia. balance hole cast in, between carb No.1 and 2, and No.2.& 3. A steel balance pipe is also fitted between carb. 1 and 3 thus the induction pipe follows as closely as possible the one mocked up. The water system through the hot spots is changed from 11.B.V. in order to reduce the number of pipes as much as possible. The water is led from the outlet in the head to the centre hot spot and then flows along the cast passage on top of the induction pipe to hot spots No.1 and 3 and from here to the water pump. The air silencer is similar to the one shewn on SCD.808 except for the position of the intake pipe and the mounting. The air silencer is mounted on the induction pipe and not on the rocker cover as 11.B.V. in order to improve the bonnet clearance. The controls are similar to PL.174 all existing levers being used. The petrol feed from the pump has been left off owing to the possibility of this scheme being fitted to Alum & Cast Iron engines, the remainder of the petrol feed pipes follow 11.B.V. as closely as possible.
