FWB SERVO MOTOR- HERON ON 3-SPEED G/BOX 3-SPEED COPY To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M22.11.22. HERON - SERVO MOTOR FOR BRAKES. We send you herewith N.sch.1350., shewing the arrangement of Servo motor on the 3 speed gearbox. Particulars of the latter will follow, and some slight modifications may be required as the design is developed, but what we shew on this scheme is accurate to our most recent instructions. It is suggested that we should try the worm and threaded lever in nickel steel with a high brinnel figure. If this should not prove to be satisfactory it will be necessary to caseharden them. We shew some alternative methods of making the end plate of the clutch, and wish you to choose the one which is most satisfactory from all points of view, that is, from manufacturing, as well as operation.
