For the attention of Mr.G.Hepworth.

Dear Sirs,

We are returning to you today the rings you supplied us with recently, as the writer received the rings there was no identification mark and we would not determine which were the high Phosphorus-Molybdenum rings.

We submitted samples to our Laboratory for analysis but they state that all rings submitted contained Molybdenum which made the case hopeless, particularly since the high limit of Phosphorus in the ordinary iron is higher than the low limit of the high Phosphorus-Molybdenum iron.

The writer had a talk yesterday with your representatives Messrs. Mallinson & Wilson and they suggested we sent them back, if our second check in the Laboratory confirmed our first tests.

We should be very pleased if you could sort these rings out and let us have two dozen of each back again in as quick a time as possible, our unit is now held up for these rings and we do not want to miss the chance of getting them tried.

Your Mr.Wilson informed me that you now have the tackle for measuring variation at ring periphery, I should like to see this sometime if I may so that I can modify our roller type gauge to give us the necessary information on high tip loads.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
