LUCAS MAGNETO ON 7-EX. ETC. X.8793.

As far as I know this has behaved quite satisfactorily during its 10,000 miles in France.

MAGNETO CONTACT MAKER:
On examining its behaviour in England, however, I found it was unreliable because the fibure of the L.T. contact maker had absorbed moisture from our damp English atmosphere and had become tight on the rocker pin. The friction however was so slight as almost to escape detection, but owing to the light springing of this rocker arm the platinums at slow speed failed to make contact, and therefore the slow running was defective.

IGNITION PLUGS.
The only other trouble with the whole ignition on this car appears to be with the Lodge plugs (which have behaved so well otherwise) becoming oxidised in the points, possibly due to the weak mixture which our cars are capable of using.

THROTTLE.
The previous report that we thought the throttle valve was sticking, we believe now to due to the defective slow running, the carburetter being set for very weak mixture on the low speed jet. The carburetter was not marked for normal setting.

MAGNETO TIMING.
You will remember that I suggested a second hexagon on the adjustment of the magneto timing. I think this is necessary to avoid fear of damage to other parts.
