Dear Sirs,

With further reference to your letter of the 2nd.Inst., and our's of the 6th. our Chief Designer has now gone very carefully into this matter again, and finds that the only possible way in which we can fit our patent oblique type scraper ring is by re-designing the piston, altering the position of the gudgeon pin bosses, which will necessitate an increase of length of 3/8" to the connecting rod.

We are enclosing sketch No:M.P.338, which will make clear to you the points mentioned.

We shall be pleased to know if you are prepared to make a set of special connecting rods in order to test these pistons, which we should be pleased to supply free of charge, as before. We should appreciate a reply at your convenience.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ALLEN & SIMMONDS /READING/ LTD.,

B.Tull,

Secretary.
