With this type we were able to make direct comparison by swinging round the adjustable flange and fitting a standard hot spot bend and carburetter. In the standard position the distribution was bad and power consequently low. During these experiments it was found better to employ a short length of feed pipe (about 6") between the carburetter and distributing pipe than bolt the carburetter direct to the distributing pipe. A system employing two Eagle carburetters and practically identical to the Hispano system was tested. See sketch No.4. This also proved to be very good and gave slightly more power than either of the other systems. This is probably the result of avoiding over-lapping of suction strokes and the lower depression due to two carburetters being used.
