DYNAMO 988 FROM 20 HP. CHASSIS GH.21.

This machine was returned as failing to charge at high speeds. On the bench it has been found that its output begins to fall unduly at about 2000 r.p.m. and at higher speeds the effect is more pronounced, the machine sometimes taking a discharge.

By using a stronger control brush spring the output could be improved and by applying finger-pressure it could be brought up- to normal.

The distance of the control brush holder from the commutator is .084", slightly above the drawing amount and there is room to increase the spring pressure, the amount at present being about .5 lb.

In other respects, the machine is quite O.K. No alterations have been made.

Attention to these points will almost certainly correct the fault.
