X-3129 We have recently had one or two cases of ignition failure due to faulty condenser connections to the make and break. These have been caused as follows :- 1. The screws holding the "earth" plates of the condenser to the make and break cover have come loose, and caused faulty earthing. We feel that a better spring locking device is required for these screws, especially in view of the fact that they are compressing "insulating" material. We believe this has also been confirmed on the 10,000 miles experimental car 2-EX. 2. The actual "earthing" of the make and break cover itself has failed. Apart from the wing nuts, a spring contact seems necessary. The screws may not be tight, thereby causing poor contact. We also think that a special brush is required to "earth" the case of the make and break which is not bolted in position, but has to move in order to obtain advance and retard, and the surfaces are invariably lubricated.
