8 Cyl. Radial 2 cycle Supercharged Petrol
Engine Developed by
General Motors.

The details of performance and design of the above engine will of necessity be based upon memory and therefore the information in some instances will only be approximate.

In these cases however an endeavour will be made to err on the conservative side.

(a) Cylinders, pistons, etc.

The engine has eight cylinders (water cooled) and four combustion heads. Each pair of cylinders is formed in one aluminium casting (Dry steel liners are employed) and one aluminium combustion head serves each pair of cylinders. The cylinders are arranged in radial form, the effect being that of two four cylinder radials, one behind the other; thus being a two cycle engine, there are four explosions per revolution.

The arrangement of induction and exhaust is somewhat similar to the principle used by the Trojan Co. some years ago. It can best be described by means of an illustration.
