To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re Post-War Car Programme. You will remember what I mentioned the other afternoon about the effect of the Purchase Tax, which I think it is safe to assume will remain in force for some considerable time after the cessation of hostilities, and it will therefore be a very serious handicap from the point of view of complete car prices. As an indication of the effect, I attach a schedule, showing the pre-war catalogue prices of our various main types of Wraiths and Bentleys, and the prices that would have to be charged inclusive of the Purchase Tax.
