-2- Operations for lowering cylinder block. 1st. Fit No.2, 3, 4, and 5 pistons. No.1, and 6 fit into cylinder block. 2nd. Set No.1 and 6 con rods just over T.D.C. remaining pistons as sketch No.2. and 5. scraper ring level with crankcase. 3rd. Lift cylinder block and centre it over pistons as sketch. 4th. Drop block down by pulley block sufficient to get gudgeon pins in No.1 and 6 pistons without bringing scraper ring out of pot. 5th. After fitting gudgeon pins in No.1 and 6 lower block by pulley block until No.3 and 4 pistons are in a position to be fitted. 6th. One fitter either side manoeuvres top and second rings in while block is lowered. 7th. Reverse engine by fan belt while third ring is fitted, then lower block slightly and get scraper ring in at the same time, see that No.2. and 5 are in position. 8th. The scraper rings of 2 and 5 are never lower than top of crankcase. 9th. The rings of No.2 and 5 are fed in while the crank is being reversed for fitting of 3 and 4 scraper. 10th. Continue to reverse engine by fan belt for feeding in No.2. and 5 scraper. 11th. Drop cylinder block by pulley block. Time taken with cylinder block and pistons in position 11 mins. 12 sec.
