STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS. Description of Parts: Jaw clutch engaging starter motor and bush. Origin: Failure of actuating box to engage jaw clutch. Experimental Test Report: It has been proved that the failure of the actuator box to engage the clutch is due to the viscosity of the oil on the back of the jaw clutch. This has been overcome by reducing the area of the two surfaces which come in contact. Road Test Report: Tried on a car which had given a lot of trouble with the clutch engaging; the result was perfectly satisfactory. (See sketch attached.) Signature of Exp.
