Hydraulic Tappet & Rockers.

To cure over-oiling when idling with the increased feed of oil to the push rods.

.015" holes have now been drilled in all the "A" side rocker bushes.

The holes in the valve ends of the rockers which were blanked off have been opened out again to .015".

The oil feed holes to them have been filled with felt pellets as follows:-

Rockers "A" Side.

No.1 - 12 pellets
2 - 11 "
3 - 10 "
4 - 9 "
5 - 8 "
6 - 7 "
7 - 7 "
8 - 7 "
9 - 7 "
10 - 7 "
11 - 7 "
12 - 7 "

The engine was free from smoke idling for five minutes when cool, but a lot of smoke came out on opening up. When hot, no smoke came out idling or on opening up.

The oil supply to A.10 and A.11 hydraulic plungers failed. This was due to the feed past the metering screw being blocked solid by sludge. It was cleaned and the flow restored.

This car has been run with Price's oil up to the last few weeks.

.015" holes drilled in all "B" side rocker bushes. .015" holes opened up where blanked off in all "B" side rockers. Worsted plugs inserted in oil holes to valve end of rockers "B" 1-6 asbestos in "B" 7-12.
