Steering stiffness and exhaust boom issues during GMK-65 trials.

With reference to your PN {Mr Northey} 3/DN18.9.24. - there should not be the necessity for "putting together" the two steel washers, moreover, this is not a standard practice. If the steering is stiffer than we arranged as our standard at our last meeting, the cause of it should be ascertained and cured, but we contend that as a chassis this would not have been delivered if such was the case. The only instance in which the practice referred to should be carried out, is when fixing steel artillery wheels, which, owing to their increased centres naturally increase the friction on the steering, as referred to in our Instructions No. 424. With regard to the exhaust boom, we take it this is the general complaint of exhaust boom of which we are fully cognisant, and which is having the attention of the Experimental Dept. We presume Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will take this note as a reminder of its urgency. EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
