X.3490 RE AMENDMENT TO SPECIFICATION OF 40/50 HP CHASSIS CONCERNING CARBURETTION.

X.3225: It has already been stated that the floatchamber needle seating should be made similar to the R.R.C.H. pattern. it should be pointed out that this instruction supersedes drawing No.160.869 in respect to the seating, but not as regards the design of the needle itself.

The amendment mentioned above concerns the travel of the needle and float. With the present dimension as exemplified on chassis 7 CA, the travel of the needle is not sufficient without the addition of washers underneath the needle weight. The petrol enters the floatchamber too slowly. Furthermore, without the addition of the aforementioned washers it is not possible to work the flooder except by bouncing the float downwards.

Would Mr. Bailey therefore please set out the floatchamber mechanism with a view to eliminating these disadvantages, by arranging more travel for the needle and suitable engagement for the flooding device, in accordance with Mr. Royce's wishes.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
