To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} De/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} re Bensport - Tachometer Drive. Referring to the above, owing to the direction of rotation of the tachometer needle being necessarily of the same hand as the drive unless a reverse gear is specially incorporated in the instrument, we propose to re-design the drive on the end of the dynamo so as to obtain the reverse rotation without additional gearing. This does not apply, of course, to the first Bensport with the existing J.1. unit. For this latter a reverse gear supplied by the tachometer makers will be incorporated in the drive.
