Edwards}10/GH.21.3.40. re RIPPLE 1.R.1. ---------- It is proposed to carry out the following cooling tests on the above car with a view to determining the appearance of the car with fixed shutters, the necessary angle of the shutter for adequate cooling, and the effect of modification to the fan. Detailed tests should be carried out as follows:- I. Shutters set at an angle of 30°. a.{Mr Adams} Standard fan fitted. b. Fan removed. c. No fan fitted and 50% of the radiator blanked off. II. Standard fan fitted, shutters set at 20°. III. Standard fan fitted, shutters set at 10°. IV. Standard fan fitted, shutters set at 40°. V.{VIENNA} Standard fan fitted, shutters set at 50°. If a second fan is available the following tests should be carried out while the shutters are still at 30°. 1. Fan blade root pitch Reduced by 50%. 2. Root pitch as standard blade, over all diameter reduced at 30%. 3. If considered better a combination of reduced pitch and over all diameter. Noise effects should be noted as far as possible.
