Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 4th instant.addressed for the attention of Dr.Turner in regard to a Distributor-less Magneto for your 20-H.P.Car. With regard to the possibility of making a magneto to your specification of 5" maximum height, not to weigh more than 8 lbs.and to have a timing range of 58°,we feel sure that we can supply you with a suitable machine. We should expect to be able to give a performance equal to that of the type ERJ.6 magnetos which you had for test some little time ago. As regards the magneto you are using at present on your 20-H.P.car we are not familiar with this and should be pleased if you could give us particulars or better still a sample for us to see exactly what it is. As a matter of fact we have not before us full details of the Ignition System adopted on your 20-H.P.model,we know that originally the car was designed for Coil Ignition only with one plug per cylinder, then we believe arrangements were made for fitting a magneto as a standby,it being possible to change over from one to the other only by changing the lead on the distributor and not by automatically switching from one Watford R.O.1. | ||
