E.P. from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c.c. HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 616 RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}1/LS.12.8.37. WRAITH III. CRANKCASE. In order that the pattern for the above may be altered to its final production form, decisions are required on the following items:- 1. Position of Electric Petrol Pumps. X DELCO 2. Type of Distributor and Governor Mechanism. 3. Type and position of Oil Filter. BYE PASS. 4. Front Engine Feet. - We understand these are not required for engine suspension, LEAVE and it is presumably not intended to retain such large projections for supporting electric petrol pumps and coils. New facings for coil mounting etc; will be required when engine feet are deleted. Will you please arrange that the next crankcase detail drawing covers all these features so that we may avoid a series of small pattern alterations. We should also be glad if you would incorporate the following points to facilitate production, in addition to any modifications already requested by HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} 1. Crankcase halves to be retained by studs (replacing existing bolts) tapped into blind bosses. This will involve two sleeve dowels (as on Ph.III.) at front end, and reamed bolt at rear O.S. for location. 2. Distributor facing should be sufficiently high for facing tool to be swung without fouling casting. 3. Clutch and Wheelcase facing flanges to be raised between bosses so that a smooth outline is obtained to facilitate trimming. 4. Small inclined facing for petrol drain clip should be raised and made vertical, otherwise it is necessary to tilt crankcase for drilling 2-BA. hole. We attach hereto blue-print showing the above points. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} | ||
